Hey, I’m so glad you’re here! I’m Danielle van Werkhoven, a documentary wedding and engagement photographer based in the stunning Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. After graduating from Toronto Metropolitan University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography, I set out to build a business centered around capturing authentic moments of love, joy, and everything in between.
What drives me is the connection I get to build with my clients – to tell your story through the art of photography. I’m here to be your third wheel, your biggest cheerleader, and that person who makes you laugh and feel supported throughout your journey. Whether we’re chatting about your wedding plans or adventuring together during an engagement session, I’m all about creating a relaxed and enjoyable experience.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me indulging in a few hobbies. Photography, of course (with a fun twist on film photography), houseplants (I’m a proud plant mom), seaglass hunting, and embroidery. I’m an outdoor enthusiast who’s constantly chasing new travel and hiking adventures – even if the mountains I tackle are a bit more challenging than my physical stamina would suggest!
I’d describe myself as an "extroverted introvert." I’m great with people, love connecting, and can hold my own in a crowd, but I equally treasure downtime with family, friends, and of course, solo moments spent editing photos and gushing over all the beautiful love stories I get to capture.
A few fun facts: I’m a huge Game of Thrones fan (I’m sure you can guess who my favorite character is), I’ve got a collection of 7 tattoos (with plans for more, when the inspiration hits), and I’m obsessed with discovering new music – Noah Kahan is my current go-to artist, but I’m always on Spotify looking for the next hidden gem. And yes, I’ve been told more than once that my voice tends to carry… a lot.
At heart, I’m a fiery Aries Sun and Moon with a soft, gooey center, and a Libra rising that ensures every shot is perfectly composed and aesthetically pleasing.
